Description
This work is registered in the archives of the Calder Foundation, New York, under application number A06884.
While most known for his mobiles, Calder's works on paper are imbued with the same whimsey as his kinetic sculpture. From his sculpture, to his work in theatrical production, motion is the cornerstone of Calder's work, and his paintings display the same keen sense of movement. This piece, with its swirling curlique shapes in his recognizable color palette of red, blue and yellow, are a beautiful example of how the artist captures motion on paper.
