Description
The text to the right of the photo reads: "Blondie New York City 1980 As co-founders of the New Wave band, Blondie, Debbie Harry and Chris Stein were lovers, partners and what many would deem 'The King and Queen of Pop' of the 70's. The couple met in 1973 while both were members of the band The Stilettos. A year later, they left the band and embarked on a new venture that eventually became Blondie. Debbie and Chris are photographed here on the roof of their Midtown apartment building. After photographing them making tea in their kitchen, watching 'Godzilla' on TV, and posing in front of their gold records, the photographer asked them to go up on their roof for some New York City ambience. Debbie projected her eternal coolness, while Chris stared nonchalantly. Photograph ©2009 by Alan Tannenbaum from the book 'New York in the 70s.'"
