Anthony Ackrill’s classical training at Florence Academy of Art and his expertise in anatomy is evident in this beautiful interpretation of the creation story. One could be forgiven for thinking this large-scale oil painting came out of the 15th century Renaissance period. In Genesis, God put humans on earth on the 6th day and Ackrill drapes Eve perilously on a rocky promontory as the sun rises on the 7th day when his work was done. She is covered modestly in a patterned red cloth as her rich, Titianesque auburn hair cascades over the edge. This majestic artwork is a modern day statement piece.
