Biography
Anthony Klitz was a 20th-century Irish painter. Known primarily for his hazy depictions of London’s cityscapes, Klitz’s works are characterized by their muted palette and blurred edges. Executed with oil on canvas and usually featuring a low, empty horizon dotted with minuscule red, black, brown, and yellow figures, his compositions are framed by a muted city scenes painted with an atmospheric perspective in brown and ochre hues. He showed an interest in architecture early life and initially studied planned on pursuing architecture as a profession, which perhaps informed his later choice of subject matter in his work. Born on September 3, 1917 in Southport, England, he went on to study at the Cheltenham Art College from 1936 to 1939. He died in Dublin, Ireland on September 19, 2000.
