The geometry of three open and stacked corten steel cubes creates the illusion of being at once solid and hollow. Smith and Mintz have collaborated on this optical geometric work in corten steel that has been allowed to rust patina.

The collaboration of Avron Mintz and Gord Smith began in 2010. Together they produce modernist inspired outdoor and indoor optical geometric sculptures.

In his late 70’s, Mintz took a leap into personal creativity with astonishing results and numerous commissions. Mintz's collaborateur Gord Smith studied Architecture and Engineering at Sir George Williams University, and went on to work with the architectural firm of Lawson Betts and Cash in Montreal. In 1967, he was elected to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (RCA). Commissions and collaborations with architects include Webb Zefara Menkes, Arthur Erickson, Bregman Hamman, Leslie Rebanks and Gene Kinoshita. Smith's work is in collections of major institutions including the National Gallery of Canada, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Queen's University, Musée d'art contemporain, University of Victoria, the Art Gallery of Hamilton, Concordia University, McGill University, and more.
