Shortly after the passing of his wife, Long made this painting with an accompanying poem. Titled A Year, it reads “Loss, Grief, my mind not seeketh, but my heart knoweth the winding of it’s turbulent tricking, the moon circles the sun, acknowledges, allowing the mystery of its other side and the radiant warm permeates through the epidermis exciting the red cells to keep on sending me into my life's quests, goeth me where? Where? New love, new loves where? Where? Loss, grief, my mind not seeketh.”
