‘Reine on Clay’ is a medium size contemporary mixed media on fabric-wrapped board figurative painting created by Dutch artist Casper Faassen in 2015. Created during an extended trip to India and made of a thick 800 gram cardboard, this piece depicts an elegant woman, seen in profile. Casper used local clay with its original pigments of rust and greys for the background while the female figure is a silk screen print accented with hand-painted details. Perfectly restrained, the painting strikes by the purity of its lines, the simplicity of its means and its contrasting colors.
