Description
Over eight years, Ingleby’s public art project Billboard for Edinburgh invited 30 artists to make a large-scale work for Edinburgh’s city centre. The project was initiated in 2008, when the gallery moved to premises on Calton Road and transformed a defunct billboard on the end wall of the building. Every three months a new billboard installation was posted. The list of contributors includes 10 Turner Prize nominees and winners and artists with world renowned reputations alongside emerging talents. The project came to an end when the gallery left Calton Road in 2016.
For each billboard, Ingleby collaborated with the artist to publish a limited edition print, each in an edition of 50 ranging in process from letterpress to lithography to hand-finished screenprints.
