Charles P. Limbert Co

(American, established 1902)

Charles Limbert was an American furniture manufacturer and founder of the Charles P. Limbert Furniture Co. Best known for pieces created in the style of the American Arts and Crafts movement, his most celebrated works include his solidly made oak furniture, possessing unique yet simple lines. Limbert was notably influenced by the Scottish architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh and artists from the Vienna Seccesion, including Koloman Moser. Born in 1854 in Linesville, PA, Limbert was the son of a cabinetmaker and went on to work as a furniture salesman in Grand Rapids before opening his own factory in 1902. He died in 1923 in Kent County, MI.
