About this Artwork
Edition
12 Artworks
Size Notes
Due to the analogue KODAK Endura process, the series of 12 Polaroid negatives where laminated wet to a polarized mineral glass – a technique exclusively used by the Artist and his workshop long before and in contrast to the acrylic world in photography. A very statement by Samaras to environmental issues, when using materials for imagery production.

Description
M.I.T. Museum in summer 1998, Samaras by reference and recommendation to director Don Stidson received the studio at the Museum as visiting artist.
The portfolio of the glaciers of the Alps on display, Samaras researched for a setup integrating the climate controls of the Museum into a collage of objets trouvés.
The title « EMERSON QUIT KOOL » generated from the objects product
name on the front lids of the air conditioners.
The installation view was documented on a 4x5 inch Graflex using Polaroid Type 55, known famous for the work of Irving Penn and Richard Avedon.
Samaras later used that equipment for his stunning portraits of Armani, Stone, Evangelista, Deneuve, Saint Laurent, Herzog* and Gehry, to name but few.
