Multiple Perspectives
Delving into the depths of a single image of nature by magnifying the structure to the pure abstraction of the form, these non-objective images take on 'multiple perspectives' and many of the paintings can be viewed in multiple orientations, with each rotation taking on a different dynamic. My focus is on the organization of the space, the contrast and light to sculpt the forms, and the brushwork to create a totally new energy and spirit. Through the application of more than 20 glazing layers, the use of subtle tonal transitions, and the constant play of warm hues against cool, the shadows have astonishing richness and depth and the highlights are vibrant and luminous. Because color is so subjective, I use a carefully selected palette to deliberately challenge the viewer’s imagination and emotions. - Deborah Bigeleisen
