From his studio on the rugged Niagara escarpment, Canadian artist Floyd Elzinga, inspired by iconic imagery from the land – the maple leaf, pine tree and pinecone creates pop art. His sculptures are both playful and inspiring. Elzinga values the pinecone as an impressive seed that, historically, has survived nature’s challenges.This tabletop sculpture, made of corten steel (with its aged patina) balances beautifully an industrial material with a natural form.

His pinecone sculptures have been featured as part of Toronto’s Scotiabank Nuit Blanche celebration of contemporary art, and his work is held in collections across Ontario and in the US. Elzinga received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in Halifax, NS.
