This regal looking pinecone which stands upright at almost 2 meters high (6 feet) was hand forged of weathering steel by Canadian sculptor Floyd Elzinga. Inspired by the rugged natural landscape that surrounds his studio on the Niagara escarpment, Elzinga has masterfully balanced an industrial material with a natural form to create a playful pop art piece. (This piece can also be installed to lie horizontally.) One in a series.

His pinecone sculptures have been featured as part of Toronto’s Scotiabank Nuit Blanche celebration of contemporary art, and his work is held in collections across Ontario and in the US. Elzinga received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in Halifax, NS.
