Five vessel and paddle shapes are hand-built, carved and coated in layers of glaze in this contemplative wall sculpture by Heather Hietala. The pieces are salt, salt-soda or wood fired. The 4th vessel contains turquoise glass inlays, reminiscent of beach glass and referencing the ocean. Text fragments within the vessels imply the narrative of the journey.

Heather Allen Hietala’s work has been shown in numerous venues in the US, France and Singapore, and is held in diverse collections. She has taught and lectured in the US, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Thailand and Nepal.
