Huang Yuxing
(Chinese, born 1975)
Biography
Huang Yuxing is a Chinese painter known for his fluorescent paintings that fluctuate between figurative scenes, landscapes, and abstraction. Born in Beijing in 1975, Yuxing graduated from the Department of Mural Painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2000. Yuxing’s paintings reflect the process of their creation, showing intentional brush strokes and careful mixing and overlaying of colors. His work is grounded in the Chinese realist technique, ‘Gongbi Zhongcai,’ though Yuxing adds a contemporary spin, giving his work a style of its own. Natural phenomena like rivers, bubbles, trees, sunrises and sunsets are recurring motifs in Yuxing’s paintings, but through the use of fluorescent colors, their forms are not immediately recognizable. Yuxing’s work has appeared in solo exhibitions throughout China, as well as in Paris, London, Thailand, and more. In 2021, he will show his work in a solo exhibition in Brussels.
