Description
Jack Whitten: "'Formal Transimplants I' addresses the question 'How has technology influenced the morphology of biomorphic form in contemporary painting?' In my attempt to answer this question I am investigating the following possibilities: 1. Genetically engineered plants for edible foodstuff and synthetic chemical compounds used in the manfacture of such. 2. Silicone implants for body alteration of breast, lips, sexual organs, and body modifications in general. 3. Molecular scaffolding of synthetic protein for food; body parts for use in tissue replacement of bone, skin, hair, heart, and other vital organs. 4. The wholesale cloning of animals for industrial production of medicines, hormones, friendly bacteria, synthetic chemicals, etc. 5. The genetic manipulation of known animal species specifically for capital investment in the human and animal food supply. 6. Most frightening: The genetic cloning of human beings. These six possibilities are the origin of influences for Formal Transimplants I."
