This suite of six (6) separate gorgeous silkscreens is based on British born photographer Janette Beckman's celebrated photographs of Hip Hop stars LL Cool J, Slick Rick, Run-D.M.C., Big Daddy Kane, Chuck D and Salt 'N Pepa taken in New York City in the mid 1980s. These prints comprise her portfolio, "Legends of Hip Hop". Each individual print is hand signed and numbered from the limited edition of only 24, and the set of six prints is housed in an elegant black portfolio box. Makes a stunning gift.
Londoner Janette Beckman, began her career at the dawn of punk rock working for The Face and Melody Maker. She shot bands from The Clash to Boy George, as well as three Police album covers. Moving to New York in 1982, Beckman was drawn to the underground Hip Hop scene. Her photographs of pioneers such as Run DMC, Slick Rick, Salt ‘n’ Pepa, Grandmaster Flash and Big Daddy Kane, are in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Museum and the Museum of the City of New York.
