Description
Jose Davila works on a system of critical and analytical relations to the history of Modern and Minimalist art and their ideals. In reducing, transforming and reç interpreting iconic artworks by Donald Judd, Joseph Albers and Buckminster Fuller a.o., the artist expresses his interest in a critical and analytical appropiation.
The dyptych Untitled directly refers to Dan Flavin-s light installations. Using large scale reproductions of Flavin-s works, Davila cuts out the sources of light thatç in Flavins pieces caused shimmering effects. Framed between two glasses, leaving a distance between the back of the frame and the ¡ collage! Itself, the reproduction cast a shadow that creates a spatial effect.
