Canadian artist Julie Himel is a devoted environmentalist who hopes that her work makes a statement about preserving the fragile beauty of nature. In this abstracted landscape, a stormy sky hangs above the land rendered in a dramatic palette of blues, purples, yellows and white.

She completed a BFA at York University with additional studies at the Toronto School of Art and Langara College in Vancouver. Himel has been painting professionally for more than 20 years. Her award-winning paintings can be found in private, corporate and public collections.
