In this engaging landscape by Canadian artist, Julie Himel, a river winds its way through a forest of bare trees framed by soft pastel colours of pinks, pale blues and yellow.

Himel is a devoted environmentalist and hopes her work makes a statement to preserve the natural beauty of the world. “They aren’t realistic landscapes. The palette is often pretty wild. They’re dream-like, sometimes based on memory but they’re a little removed from reality.” Julie Himel

She completed a BFA at York University with additional studies at the Toronto School of Art and Langara College in Vancouver. Himel has been painting professionally for more than 20 years. Her award-winning work can be found in private, corporate and public collections.
