“Garfield” by KAWS, a contemporary artist known for his fusion of art and commercial, leading to collaborations with high-profile brands to create items like toys and clothing. This limited edition screenprint on paper is die-cut to replicate the shape of the iconic comic and cartoon character Garfield, one of many appropriated media motifs that reappear throughout KAWS’s body of work. Garfield’s reclined figure, distilled to an abstract silhouette, is filled with various organic swaths of purple, green, brown, blue, and red. Like much of his work, “Garfield'' reinterprets symbols from both external pop culture spheres, and his own enormous oeuvre through a playful palette and lens that is distinctly his own. The piece measures 12 ½ inches tall by 8 ½ inches wide and is signed and numbered by the artist.
