Description
The series "Perfect Places" is based on personal memories of a perfect summer.
In her works the artist mixes oil painting, classical embroidery and collaged elements. Arnold was inspired by the visual language of medieval millefleurs tapestries from the Musée national du Moyen Âge in Paris - works overloaded with flowers and decorations depicting everyday scenes of the rich and noble: Walks, baths, music and poetry.
Lily Arnold replaces the social upper class with the lifestyle of the younger generation. Young adults who want to go out and enjoy life - in all its overloaded splendor - just after the restrictions of the previous years.
