This terrific mixed media lithograph with gold leaf on hand colored and painted gouache paper by art superstar Lynda Benglis was acquired from LA Art Night for Life II in 1993, an art auction and fundraiser to benefit AIDS Project, Los Angeles. The work is hand signed and numbered on the verso from the limited edition of 25. It is framed in an elegant museum frame hand made by Jerry Solomon Enterprises in Los Angeles. The frame bears the label of the LA Aids Project, a sticker noting it was sold there, along with the printers' label. It is in fine condition; framed and ready to hang.


This mixed media work began with hand-painted gouache paper in red. Then a photo-lithographic plate was made from Benglis' pleated sculptural forms and printed on top of the gold leafed shapes. Organically twisting and writhing like crumbled fabric, Benglis has an exceptional ability to transform materials into elegant baroque forms. She captures not only the essence of expressionism in each of her pieces, but the intangible delicacy of the abstraction.
