"Last year I was invited to participate in the Santa Cruz Recycled Art Program. For four months, the artists in the program were allowed to go to the Santa Cruz dump and recycling areas to glean material for making art. It was both exciting and sad to see the kinds of items which are thrown away. The work I submitted for this exhibit was made mostly from discarded objects. The objects contain a history.

The form for this piece was inspired by the Totems made by Louise Bourgeois early in her sculpture career."
