Wide Eyes are Margaret Keane's signature style. Not all of her work rises to a high level, however. This painting in my opinion, is one of her very best. It has punch and power tempered by sensitivity and compassion: the huge oversized eyes, each with a single teardrop, beckon. Work is signed and dated lower right.
