Description
Marinella Senatore’s 'Protest forms memory and celebration' (2019), a protest textile banner adorned by one of the artist’s powerful statements, is part of a series of works sharing the same title.
Senatore’s signature statement ‘REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME YOU SAW YOUR NAME’ often makes an appearance in the artist’s work as a reminder for all to embrace their own identity. The fiery and colourful image of a head of a woman comes from the photograph of a member of the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance in New York, with which Marinella has often collaborated across the years.
