Description
An exceptionally fine, vivid proof of the final state, with much burr, on old laid paper with watermarks ADRIAAN ROGGE, interlaced initials AR, and fleur-de-lis in crowned shield, annotated M in lower-left margin
This is an extraordinarily impression of one of Cassatt’s greatest color prints. Here, she has refined the principal elements of the central panel in the “Modern Woman” mural that she executed for the 1893 Chicago World’s Columbian Exposition.
Although an edition of 20 was intended, only a small number of impressions have been located.
