Description
Mathews and Shaprio’s eighth state (of ten), printed in black, green, purple, apricot, and rose-apricot, from three plates, a superb impression of this state, with strong burr, in a previously unknown color combination, and with experimental extension of the skirt of the woman’s dress by monotype inking, on blue-green laid paper, annotated D in lower-left corner, and HP at lower-right corner
The only other impression of this state -- a duplicate from Vollard’s collection, now in the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. -- is printed in tones of orange and yellow.
