Description
During this period, Vlaminck's painting became darker, more vehement and more lyrical. He was the painter of dramatic atmospheres, of small sunken roads crushed by storms. His painting shows a fascination for roads, snow mixed with earth, the unknown horizons.
Giant of the art, preserved in all the great museums, with a romantic vision painted with the ardour of Rubens, whose Flemish ancestry he shared, Vlaminck used to say: "Painting is like cooking. You can't explain it. You have to taste it !
