Biography
Maya Hayuk is a contemporary American artist best known for her large-scale mural paintings. Employing bright colors and geometric patterns, inspired by mandalas, holograms, and traditional Ukrainian Easter egg paintings, Hayuk produces elaborate abstractions on outdoor walls. Born in 1969 in Baltimore, MD, she studied at the University of Odessa, the Massachusetts College of Art, and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. The artist currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Hayuk’s works are in the collections of the United States Embassy in Sanaa, Yemem, the Millennium Iconoclast Museum of Art in Brussels, Wynwood Walls in Miami, and the Ullens Foundation in Brussels, among others.
