Red Regatta (Coppa del Presidente della Repubblica, Bacino San Marco) is part of the series of the Project Renderings realised by Melissa McGill before the Red Regatta performances.
To create these renderings, the artist used a combination of painting and photography, embracing the connection between the artwork and the specificity of its environment.
She memorised the name of every participating boat and painted its sails imagining them gliding together among the waves.
The red sails and their reflections on each wave, painted with a tiny brush, envisioned the prominent role they would eventually play, as reflections always do in Venice.
