Mohamed Arejdal has developed several large-scale multimedia works, which explore nomadism through the lens of the artist’s experiences in his native Morocco. Hailing from a family of Bedouins, Arejdal has been profoundly impacted by tribal traditions and attempts to live an existence liberated from borders and societal constraints, as such his output often features signifiers of his roots that he associates with these freedoms from tent poles to the cloth of a Bedouin tent. As a student of psychology Arejdal produces art with layers of complex meaning that seek to stimulate a human response. His interest in the informal, fleeting adventures that arise out of chance encounters, journeys and wanderings are key to his work and materialise in the installations selected for this exhibition.
