Description
This bronze and marble statue commemorates French Emperor Napoleon III’s victory at the Battle of Solferino. The victory of the allied French Army under Napoleon III, who joined forces with Sardinian Army under Victor Emmanuel II (together known as the Franco-Sardinian Alliance), against the Austrian Army under Emperor Franz Josef was the last major battle in world history where all the involved armies were under the personal command of their monarchs.
In this striking stature, a bronze figure of the emperor, in the garb of a triumphant Caesar, stands atop a column of rare Rosso marble, while bronze accents such as olive branch bands, a medallion and a draped banner proclaim his victorious feat. Exceptionally rare and beautifully crafted, this statue is truly a tour-de-force.
