Aladag began to deeply engage abstraction in Social Fabric, an ongoing series of wall hangings created from carpets old and new, sourced from around the world. In these works, abstract compositions are pieced together like a colossal puzzle, while the myriad patterns seen on individual carpet pieces that comprise the whole suggest the possibilities of infinite abstract images found in cultures across time and geography.
