Description
Inspired by contemporary fashion, Nilraya Bundasak’s colorful textile paintings celebrate adornment and individuality through the application of fabric and embroidery to canvases of re-purposed materials. Inspired by the beauty and uniqueness that fashion offers, as well as the emotional dynamism of femininity, she creates large-scale works resplendent with bright luxurious fabrics and detailed stitching.
This one-of-a-kind textile artwork is 21 inches tall and 19 inches wide. It is stretched as a traditional canvas and is wired and ready to hang. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping are available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included with this original textile work.
Bundasak says about this artwork "This artwork is about women and beauty. I want to show the external values of people in this artwork and focus on what makes them look good. I portray women with clothes and colors instead of women's emotions to show their acceptance in an open society. Their recognition needs to be expressed in diverse contexts. I want to convey that they must be beautiful all the time, whether sitting or standing. Women and colors are easy to recognize with the various threads I use. As a woman artist, I like to reflect on the importance of the beauty of a diversity of clothes in today's society as a recognition of the women that wear them."
Award-winning textile artist Nilraya Bundasak was born in 1992 in Khon Kaen, Thailand. Bundasak received her MFA from Sipakorn University. She now has a studio in Bangkok. Bundasak has won multiple consecutive awards for her large-scale embroidery, including the Young Artists Talent Award, 3rd place in the 18th Panasonic Contemporary Painting Competition, and three White Elephant Art Awards.
Her work is a catalog of evolving fashion trends but also highlights environmental consciousness. Bundasak’s works approach recycling and sustainable garment use with a positive attitude. Filled with intimate details, Bundasak’s textural collages are dynamic, vibrant, and express a personal love for clothing and adornment.
