The solid bronze form is suspended above the base on a brass stalk which, as it is not fixed, can turn within the base enabling adjustment in orientation to suit the preference of the collector. Edges of the bronze are finely rubbed and lacquered to protect against tarnishing by touch and to retard natural darkening over time. That the lacquer remains intact and is not damaged by scratching is very important for longevity of the finish.

The base is a composite using pigmented slate dust bound in resin.
