Raymond Wintz

(French, 1884–1956)

Raymond Wintz was a French realist painter and engraver known for his nostalgic depictions of the Brittany coast in France. In one of his hallmark paintings The Blue Door, a glimmering harbor can be seen through an open door. Born on March 25, 1884 in Paris, France, he was the son of the painter Guillaume Wintz. After attending the School of Decorative Arts and the National College of Fine Arts in Paris, he began exhibiting at the Salon des Artistes Français. The artist died in 1956 in Paris, France.
