Description
Hungarian born artist Renata Jakowleff creates evocative, material-focused work that conveys emotional and physical sensation. For over ten years Jakowleff has worked primarily in glass, favoring the intrinsic versatility of the material.
With her latest group of works,” The Furs Series”, Jacowleff has focused on the optical qualities of glass. The works are made by hand sewing thousands of tiny glass beads onto a flat base. In manipulating the infinitesimal components en masse, Jakowleff builds up a rich textural composition, reminiscent of fur, that is both painterly and reflective. As light travels across the surface the work constantly changes its appearance.
Many of her works are included in public and private art collections, and have been published in several catalogues. She has shown internationally exhibitions and museums. Javowleff works and lives in Helsinki, Finland.
