Richard Rodes (American, b.1961) is contemporary sculptor known for his traditional stonework technique. He studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, and then sought a stonemason apprenticeship in Siena, Italy, becoming the first non-Italian student admitted into Siena’s masonic guild in 726 years. Today Rhodes works in a variety of media, including bronze, but credits his guild training as a lasting influence in his work.
Rhodes has lectured internationally on the subjects sculpture and architecture, including twice addressing the American Institute of Architects, and presenting an educational series to the Institute of Classical Architecture in both San Francisco and New York. He lives and works in Seattle, WA.
