Description
The color in this work is exceptional for Indiana, unusual from the primary colors of red and blue and green. Framed in museum quality white frame, framed size 34 x 34 inches, Excellent condition
Unlike most other pop artists, Robert Indiana was adept at incorporating important social and political messages in much of his work. After the astounding success of his work LOVE, he applied the same red, blue and green colours to numerous other word works, observing that “in the eye is of such a nature that with the slightest change of light the fields automatically interchange, the positive becomes negative and vice versa, with almost a violent effect in the eye.”
It is a silkscreen, number 9 from an edition of 25. There are 20 numbered prints in the edition with 5 printer proofs.
Framing notes: The frame is from Germany, museum quality and has magnets rather than hinges to secure the print. The print is in between the plexiglas and backboard. to protect the print further.
