Description
Robert Motherwell’s iconic ‘Basque Suite’ demonstrates the artist’s innovative and painterly approach to printmaking. Designated as image number 5 in the suite, the artwork shown here is a stunning display of simplicity and color created by the artist as an original screenprint in 1971. Measuring 40 1/2 x 28 1/4 in. (102.9 x 71.8 cm), unframed, it is both signed in the screen, as well as hand-initialed by the artist in pencil, and numbered. From the edition of 150, this print is designated as Belknap 55 in the artist’s catalogue raisonne. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from Michael Lisi Contemporary Art.
