Description
Heliography on laid cardboard, from
„Le 34 tavole di Robert Rauschenberg per l´Inferno di Dante“
Dante and Virgil pass through the gate of hell and enter the vestibule with the opportunists, who in life were only concerned with themselves. They meet Charon, the ferryman who is supposed to take them across the river Acheron to the actual hell. Charon refuses at first, since Dante is a living being, symbolized here by the red heart.

numbered specimen 67/250,
edited by Edizioni Macorini, Milano in year 1965,
gallery framing with museum glass, excellent condition.
