Description
Rupprecht Geiger traveled to Japan several times: in 1986 for an exhibition in the
Seiji Togo Art Museum in Tokyo, and in 1988 to the Goethe Institute in Osaka for the exhibition "Pictures for the Sky. Art Dragons". #For this exhibition Geiger specially created “The Red Dragon”. He put together the colors Pink and Red in two differently rectangular shapes. The resulting form of an almost square element with a lying rectangle placed on top cleverly fits into his oeuvre of this time, but at the same time evokes the form of a traditional Japanese kite type - the “Sodedako”, which owes its name to a kimono-like garment.
