For Sara Ramo, unpredictability and circumstantiality are essential aspects of the artistic process. In the collage series Cards on the Table (2018) the artist uses fabric, pigment, and sewing to create collages that are strongly related to celebratory banners. Working with residue and the possibility of a new inception, Ramo extracts new concepts from ruins. If destruction can be an announcement of things to come, these collages are a kind of delirious celebration of remains. This series also reveals the artist's wide range of interests and references, from the Theatre of the Absurd to psychoanalytic concepts, particularly on her attempt to re-elaborate personal memories.
