Description
The development of our human society was possible because of many circumstances, such as our ability to communicate and keep a historical memory. Just as the Rosetta Stone was the key to understanding the civilizations in the past, “Transcript“ is imagined as a monument of the now, an attempt to connect the oldest translated text in history (the story of Gilgamesh from the library of Assyrian king Ashurbanipal) with technology and the latest tools for encoding (the QR Code). The work is built as a Roman mosaic, with an orthogonal order of black and white stones. However, unlike its antiquity-inspired appearance, Stoyan Dechev's sculpture cannot be accessed without the digital instruments of our time.
The artwork has been previously presented at the Apollonia Art Festival in Bulgaria, in 2018.
