Description
Hand blown glass rings of bright red, orange and yellow are stacked organically on seven stems in this brilliant outdoor sculpture by Susan Rankin. The stems are fixed to a steel plate and sway gently in the breeze. Each column includes the hand formed glass elements, steel, and poly pipe on a steel plate. They range in height from 6.3 to 8.5 feet.
Susan Rankin (b. 1959, Moose Jaw, SK) has exhibited extensively across Canada, the US, Belgium and Japan. Her award winning blown glass vases and sculptures have earned the support of the Canada Council and the Ontario Arts Council. Her pieces are held in private, corporate and public collections in Canada, the US, and Belgium at the Corning Museum, NY, the Winnipeg Art Gallery, Global Affairs Canada, the Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal the Flemish Centre for Contemporary Art and more. Rankin’s works are subtly rich in colour and markings, expressing the beauty of the glass elements.
