A rare complete run of the first 5 issues of the Art Review XX e siècle, Paris 1938-1939.
The 20th Century Art Review was created and published by Gualtiero di San Lazzaro, Journalist, art critique, Art Dealer.
N 1: March 1938 - With original lithograph in color by Jules Pascin "Le Chaperon rouge", and inedit drawings also by Pascin that illustrated the text of Pierre Courthion: "Les Veuves di Pascin ". Numerous essays by Kandinsky, De Chirico, Le Courbusier, and a quadricomia of Salvador Dalì: "The specter of sex appeal".
N 2: May-June 1938 - With "La Femme portable" by Man Ray and original essays by Man Ray, Seligmann, Miro, Arp, Duthuit and others.
N 3: July-August-September 1938 - With 6 woodcuts by Kandinsky (3 in color and 3 Black and White).
N 4: Christmas 1938 - With 8 original woodcuts by Matisse, de Chirico, Miro, Arp, H. Lauren, Magnelli, Zadkine, and Helio and 2 lithographs by Marcel Duchamp and Max Bill.
N 5-6: 1939 - With 1 original color lithograph by Ernst, 1 original color engraving by Power, 1 engraving by Severini, 1 etching by Marcoussis and 1 woodcut after Kandinsky, and a contribution by Picasso Nature Mortes 1937-1939.
In overall good condition, with soft handling creases and some minor stains at the edges, some discoloration stains in the margins. The cover is damaged as well as the external and internal spine. Internal very clean otherwise.
