Biography
Tilt is contemporary French street artist known for his use of a traditional hip-hop graffiti aesthetic. Using multiple media, including sculpture, painting, and silk screen, the artist composes iconic images of red lips, Marilyn Monroe, and even the Union Jack flag from bubble letters spelling out his name. Born in 1973 in Toulouse, France, Tilt first started tagging in 1988 while he was a skateboarding teenager. Over the decades, he has traveled throughout the United States, Japan, Mexico, and Thailand, leaving his graffiti on banknotes and walls. The artist has participated in shows at Speerstra Gallery in Bursins, Switzerland, Fabien Castanier Gallery in Los Angeles, and Kolly Gallery in Zurich. Tilt currently lives and works in his hometown of Toulouse, France.
