On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 representing the darkest, deepest albumen print with highlights that retain their original detail, this print is a strong 8. While this photograph has creamy highlights, and rich dark tones, there is the faintest edge-fading and yellowing along the left edge.
This photograph is in generally excellent condition. There is some attendant chipping and losses to the emulsion at the edges, primarily at the upper right and bottom right corners. The following are visible in raking light: a linear v-shaped scuff near the right edge; a few matte deposits of indeterminate nature; and faint silvering in the darkest areas. The Wheeler Survey mount is appropriately age-darkened and faintly soiled. There are scattered tiny rust-colored deposits in the lower portion of the mount, possibly foxing, and a tack hole near the right edge. ‘7 ½ x 10’ is written in pencil in an unidentified hand in the lower right corner.
The reverse is soiled and there are two remnants of previous hinges along the upper edge.
