The drawing related to this painting is published in the 2011 catalog "Valerio Adami. Teoria e pratica dell'arte", published by Usher arte, p. 46, and again in the catalogue of th exbibition (2013) Valerio Adami Allegorie, at Museo
The title of this painting refers to a painting by Arnold Bocklin (1827-1901) that depicts a real place: the Viamala. Literally "bad path", identifies a narrow gorge along the course of the Hinterrhein, in Switzerland, and the ancient muletrack that runs through it. This gorge, with rock walls up to 300 meters high and a very narrow bottom, was in the past the main obstacle on the road that connected southern Germany with Lombardy through the Alpine passes.
